Bruce is a graduate of Unitec’s Performing Arts bachelor programme. He has been involved as both a writer and director with Short+Sweet Auckland and has directed several productions with Ellerslie Theatrical Society, including Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, April Phillips’s Motel and Terry Johnson’s The Graduate. In 2016, he premiered his first solo Basement Theatre show Hook-Up Boys to sell-out audiences.

Bruce has been an outspoken supporter of queer theatre in Auckland, being the founder and artistic director behind Legacy Project. Over the past five years, Legacy Project has been a platform for future queer theatre storytellers to share their experiences on stage and is now gearing up for its sixth season as part of Auckland Pride 2019.

When not busy directing or producing, Bruce enjoys playing an assortment of board games with friends (currently obsessed with playing GKR and Killer Bunnies) and fanatically watching Steven Universe. He grew up on a healthy diet of Star Wars, Batman and Lego.
