Matt Butler is a freelance writer and crew member in the New Zealand Film Industry. This is his second time in an Ellerslie production, after portraying nosy neighbor Rufus in the October season of The Lady In The Van.
In high school, he studied Scholarship Drama and performed in many school productions including A Midsummer's Nights Dream and the original production Four Out Of Five. He’s also spent time acting for the screen, portraying Seth in the as of yet unreleased Short Film A Minute After Midnight.
He studied at South Seas Film & Television School in 2016 and has since worked for companies like Whitebait Media and South Pacific Pictures on projects like What Now and Mean Mums.
He won the award for Best Script at the 2017 HP48 Hours Film Competition for the short Some Body By The Lake. His team was also nominated for Best Film at the Auckland Final of the 2018 Competition.
