Kerr took up theatre in retirement, completing a Postgrad Diploma in Arts (Drama) at Auckland University in 2012, aged 70. Recent performances have included The Waste Land (Auckland Theatre Company) and Fawlty Towers (Company Theatre). Kerr produced his own play Hitch! at the Rose Centre, 2013, and wrote and directed My Champion, a finalist in the 2016 Short+Sweet Festival. He is an Emeritus Professor at Auckland University and has authored academic papers and books. His current book, Laugh out Loud: A Users’ Guide to Workplace Humour, will be published later this year.
