Jason has performed in numerous community theatre productions over the last eleven years, beginning with The Lion in Winter for Ellerslie Theatrical Society in 2008. He has been nominated for several Auckland Community Theatre Trust awards and has been fortunate enough to win on three occasions: Best Actor in a Supporting Role for As You Like it (Shoreside Theatre, 2011); Best Actor in a Minor Role for And Then There Were None (Shoreside Theatre, 2012); and Best Actor in a Leading Role for The 39 Steps (Mairangi Players, 2013).

As he is an Anglophile and a lover of history, Shakespearean roles have become something of a specialty for him, and when he has ventured into the work of more modern playwrights, it has usually – in fact almost exclusively – been in productions with an English setting and an historical time frame.

In recent years, Jason has branched out into directing. He adapted The Jungle Book for Mairangi Players in 2016, followed by another of his own adaptations, this time of a short story by his favourite author, Edith Wharton, with The Lady’s Maid’s Bell, for Shoreside Theatre in 2018. This year Jason is delighted to return to Ellerslie Theatre, by invitation, to direct this wonderful play.
