Born in England, Paul came to New Zealand in 1980 and has enjoyed an extensive stage, TV and film career spanning over thirty years. He has worked as a professional actor, teacher, casting assistant and acting tutor. He has played such diverse characters as Salieri ‘Amadeus’; Dracula ‘Dracula’; Malvolio (twice) ‘Twelfth Night’; the Marquis de Sade ‘Quills’; Barrymore ‘I Hate Hamlet’; and Inspector Pratt ‘Murdered to Death’. TV and film roles include nearly thirty episodes as Falafel in HERCULES – THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS and, more recently, The King of the Dead in Peter Jackson’s RETURN OF THE KING. Paul last appeared at The Stables as King Henry in Ellerslie Theatrical Society’s 2008 production of THE LION IN WINTER. As Hector in THE HISTORY BOYS, Paul fulfils another acting ambition. “I have been an Alan Bennett fan for many years. His comic language, pathos and biting satire are wonderful challenges for an actor.”
