Originally from County Armagh in Ireland, Orla moved to New Zealand in 2010 for fun and adventure and to further her marketing career. She has been performing since she was eleven. She later completed a degree in acting at the University of Ulster, while making regular appearances in Irish comedies like I Fought the Law and Give My Head Peace; she also featured in various short films.
In 2013 she starred in her first New Zealand production in the Rose Garden Theatre, in challenging role of 60-year-old Kay in Little Gem and is now happily returning to the theatre once more in the role of the crafty and opportunistic Widow Quin. Orla hopes there are no similarities between her and the widow but says, “Love her or hate her, she is definitely a strong woman who knows what she wants.” |
